Youth Advisory Council

The purpose of the Youth Advisory Council (YAC) is to support and share information with youth and young adults in the community regarding WeARE (Advocates for Reproductive Education). YAC members provide valuable input and guidance to WeARE, engage in peer outreach and education, and lead projects. YACers build essential skills in leadership, public speaking, organization, teamwork, and problem-solving, all while helping to create a healthier, more informed community.
Each year, we look for high school students in the Brainerd Lakes Area to join YAC. If you'd like to get involved, click here and complete a brief application.

Hygiene Project
What is YAC’s Hygiene Project?

Youth Advisory Council (YAC) is a student-led group passionate about promoting wellbeing and reproductive health. YAC’s Hygiene Project is underway and would love your support. The project involves making hygiene products accessible for everyone, including:
-
period/menstrual products,
-
toothbrushes
-
deodorant
-
chapstick
The goal is to support our community, encourage health, and spread kindness. We believe that hygiene products are basic necessities, and everyone deserves to feel their best.
Every contribution helps! Please consider donating to support students in need.
Did you know? The Minnesota Legislature now requires schools to provide menstrual products in bathrooms. This law was inspired by projects like our original Period Project. While that effort is now statewide, YAC’s Hygiene Project continues to provide menstrual products and other hygiene essentials for students.
